My name is Matheus Lucci Sanchez, 21, and I am from São Paulo-Brazil. I engaged in mechanical engineering in 2012, I believe because of a long influence from the exact-scientific environment I had at home: My whole family is either studying engineering (my brother and I), or has an Engineering degree (mom, dad, aunts and cousins). Mechanical engineering was definitely the best choice I could have made: I really like this field and machine design is my favorite topic in the major. Computational simulations, theory of continuum mechanics, dynamics and mechatronic design are the subjects the brought me to UC Berkeley for my exchange program.
Hi! I'm Zaki from the National University of Singapore, and I am on a semester exchange in the Spring 2016 Term at UC Berkeley. My experience has been extremely eye-opening - not least because of the vibrant field of mechatronics which we explored in the course ME102B, for which we conceived our gimbal project. It's safe to say that a whole lot of fun, learning, and hard work has been jammed into my time in Berkeley, and I am very grateful for being able to experience it all.
I'm Sharmaine from Singapore. I am on a year-long exchange programme at UC Berkeley, and so far my junior year abroad has been very exciting. I have an interest in Product Design and Mechatronics and hope to be able to explore my interest further.
Hi, my name is Luisa Braga and I am an exchange student from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I am in my fourth year of Mechanical Engineering and I am sure I made the right choice. I worked in a OLED lab for two years where I was able to enforced my interests for materials and their applications. My experience in UC Berkeley has been awesome and really eye opening.
My name is Haohang Liu and I am an exchange student from Singapore. This year of exposure in UC Berkeley has been fulfilling and challenging at the same time. Gaining hands-on experience is critical here and I would like to try more as I continue my adventure with Mechanical Engineering.
Hello from Singapore! My name is Johan Kok, age 24, and I am a Junior year student at Nanyang Technological University studying Mechanical Engineering. I am on a year of exchange over at UC Berkeley where I worked in the Automation Sciences and Engineering lab. I researched on autonomous surgical robotics and how we can develop simulation models to train surgical processes in virtual environments. My interest lies mainly in back-end systems development. I am deeply passionate about innovation and have worked with a couple of programming languages including Python, Java, HTML & CSS. My hope is to develop software and hardware solutions to address societal issue with the intention of keeping them readily accessible to others.
